Located on the Brouwersgracht in the Jordaan area in Amsterdam, lays a beautiful old canal house. Surrounded by centuries old buildings and filled with authentic details, the current canal house was styled minimalisticly. A cast floor in a sandy tone, was combined with the same sandy tone for the walls. In regards of the kitchen, the choice fell on Carrara marble from Italy.
The kitchens solely consists of an island, covered from all sides, but one, in Carrara marble. By covering the kitchens from all sides with marble, it gives the illusion of the existence of a solid block of marble. The white marble gives just about enough contrast compared to the sandy floors and walls to stick out, yet it still creates a subtile and elegant effect.
About 10m2 Carrara marble has been used for the current project.
